Four men will go on trial in the District Court on charges relating to an alleged scam in which speeding tickets were withdrawn.

The scam was exposed by the Corruption and Crime Commission during public hearings in 2006.

In the District Court yesterday, Judge John Wisbey set aside three weeks from October 6 for the trial.

Pasquale Minniti faces five charges of corruption, two of making false declarations and one of attempting to induce someone to give false evidence. Francesco Di Angelo has been charged with four counts of making false declarations, while Guiseppe Barbaro is facing three charges of making false declarations.

Former police officer Arduino Silvestri has been charged with five counts of corruption.
