Bentley depot lease over $1m

In one of Perth’s biggest industrial leasing deals this year, the alliance formed to provide resources for Western Power’s South West Interconnected System (SWIS) has leased a 42,000sqm facility at Bentley for an annual figure of well over $1 million.

The alliance — comprising Downer EDI Engineering, Tenix Alliance and Western Power — will design, engineer, supervise, build and commission all future transmission and distribution capital works for the SWIS.

The Bentley premises were once a Telstra depot and then home to Manheim Fowles, which auctions exgovernment fleet and other vehicles and has relocated to Perth airport.

The property at 47-51 Ewing Street includes a 2300sqm office building, two factory warehouses, smaller office and large hardstand area. It was leased by James Condon, Savills WA industrial director, on a five-year deal with three further fiveyear options.

Before the formation of the alliance, Western Power contracted out the construction of power stations and distribution methods, including overhead power lines. That responsibility will now be overseen by Downer EDI Engineering and Tenix.
