Some of McGarry’s offences

1985 Jailed for wilful exposure and loitering.

1991 Jailed for seven years and eight months on more than 30 charges of sexual penetration, indecent assault and wilful exposure.

1994 Just months after being released on parole, he is jailed for two years for indecent dealings and is ordered to serve the balance of his earlier sentence.

1998 Jailed for five years on charges of indecent dealings and impersonating a police officer. Parole was denied and he was ordered to be detained indefinitely.

1999 The Court of Appeal reduced his sentence to three years but retained the indefinite imprisonment order.

2001 The High Court quashed the indefinite imprisonment and McGarry was released because he had served his sentence.

2004 Jailed for three years for deprivation of liberty, indecent assault, indecent dealings. Parole was denied and he was again imprisoned indefinitely.

2006 The Court of Appeal overturned the decision and sent the case back to the District Court for re-sentencing. This time, McGarry got five years and 24 days — a sentence that expired in January this year.
