MCLERNON’S DAY

Recognising it has run longer than the Afghanistan war, the Bull tries to avoid covering the internecine battle between former private detective Terry McLernon and his foes Oliver Douglas, Paul Matich and Anton Billis.

However, a brave lawyer might be interested in knowing there could be a spot going overseeing linked defamation actions that Douglas, Matich and Billis are running against McLernon.

About 18 months after veteran lawyer Peter Neil stopped representing the aggrieved gents, their new legal eagle Manraj Khosa has told Justice Rene Le Miere he wants out.

“In the last 36 hours certain events have occurred and as a result of those events the relationship of trust and confidence between a practitioner and his client no longer exists,” Khosa told the judge.

This prompted clapping from McLernon and a warning from the judge for the PI turned cyber-publisher to “show a little decorum”.

Later, when invited to have his say, McLernon said it was a big day. “I think it’s a great moment that Mr Khosa has finally woken up to himself as I’ve been trying to get him to do for a long time,” Mr McLernon said.

This earned another rebuke from His Honour, who said “we don’t need that”.

The spat is back before the court on July 24.
